MEET OUR NEW DIRECTOR

We want to welcome Camp Wah Wah Tay See’s new director Michelle Converse to our staff.
She grew up in Northern Michigan town of Petoskey along Lake Michigan.  She spent many of her summers at a local summer camp, Camp Daggett and later worked there for five years.  Her love of camp led her to study Park and Recreation Management in the Upper Peninsula at Lake Superior State University.  There she met her now husband of fifteen years.  They have two daughters ages 9 and 11. Michelle served as the camp director at Camp Tuhsmeheta which serves blind and visually impaired individuals.  She has currently been working leading an after school program with the YMCA for inner- city youth.  The relationships and connections that are made at camp, between both campers and staff role models, are what Michelle finds most special about a summer camp experience.

All donations to the Greenville Optimists' Camp Wah Wah Tay See will be used to provide "camperships" to individuals that might not be able to afford the entire cost of attending camp. The cost of one camper to attend one session of camp is $250. We do ask families and campers to pay what they can, but we do not want to turn anyone away because of an inability to pay. Any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated! Donations will be made to EightCAP, Inc., which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so all donations are tax deductible. EightCAP, Inc. is a Community Action Agency.
