The EightCAP Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a federally funded, low-income residential energy conservation program providing free home energy conservation services to low-income Michigan homeowners and renters.
These services reduce home energy use and lower utility bills.
Applying For Weatherization
Step 1:
Call toll-free (888) 257-0449 Ext 110 or 111 to setup an appointment at the EightCAP office in your county.
Step 2:
Bring the following items with you:
· Proof of income (for everyone in the household for the past 3 months)
· Electric & Gas bill(1 month), if you are using propane, obtain a 12-month usage statement from your propane company
· Proof of home ownership (property tax bill, deed, mobile home title) or Landlord’s name, address, and phone number
· Names & birthdates of everyone in household
· Proof if you are receiving food or cash assistance, state disability or supplemental security income. (FIP/FAP/SDA/SSI)
Step 3:
After you have applied, if we determine that you are eligible, you will be put onto a waiting list. When your turn come up on that waiting list an inspector will come to your house to do an energy audit and determine what can be done to seal up the house. After that a contractor will come to complete the work, and another inspector will come to inspect the work that has been done. At this time the waiting period could be up to 24 months.

Roof Replacement
Our program may be able to help with minor roof repairs, but would not cover roof replacement. Contact information for two other programs that may be able to help you with roof replacement:

Your eligibility/participation in either of those programs WOULD NOT disqualify you from applying/participating in our program also.
